In the early hours of Saturday April 16, I will be participating in the 20th Race for the Cure event here in Indy. In case you’ve been under a rock you’re whole life, the Komen Foundation was organized to help fund breast cancer research, along with educating and informing people about the details of breast cancer.
My mother, along with several of my friends, have successfully battled breast cancer, and therefore I’m very passionate about raising awareness for breast cancer research, treatment, and early detection. If you feel the same, I am raising funds for this year’s race, and would greatly appreciate your contributions, large or small. Simply click the link below to make a safe and secure donation.
If you’re wondering where exactly your money will go, here is a brief explanation from the Komen Indy website:
“Of the net proceeds from Komen Central Indiana efforts, 75% will stay in Central Indiana to provide breast health education, breast cancer screening and detection services, and survivor support for underserved women in our 21 county service area. Check out ourĀ 2010 grant recipients.
The remaining 25% helps fund scientific and clinical research that is seeking improved diagnostic and treatment methods and ultimately the cures for breast cancer. Organizations interested in providing or currently providing breast health services in Indiana are encouraged to call 317.638.CURE forĀ grant application information.”
I’m looking forward to this year’s event, and hopefully I might see one of you out there downtown!
